Wythe County is accepting sealed Bids for the construction of the Rickey Road Waterline Extension project located in Wythe County, Virginia. Work includes construction of 1,600 feet of 8” waterline and associated appurtenances. The project location is southeast of Wytheville, Virginia along Rickey Road – VA Rt. 634 between Fort Chiswell, Virginia and Austinville, Virginia.

Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained at the office of Peed & Bortz, LLC (540-394-3214) upon payment of $100 for each set or digital sets may be obtained for no charge. One-half of the deposit will be refunded to each document holder of record who returns a complete set of Bidding Documents in good condition within 10 days after opening of Bids.
A Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference shall be held at 10:00 AM local prevailing time March 13, 2020 at the Wythe County Offices, 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA 24382
Withdrawal of Bids due to error shall be in accordance with Virginia Code Section 2.2-4330.B. 1.
Should the apparent low Bid exceed available funds, the Owner reserves the right to negotiate with the apparent low bidder to obtain a contract price within available funds.
Bidders shall comply with Virginia Code Section 54.1-1112 regarding information required with Bid. Envelopes containing Bids shall be clearly marked with the Bidder’s contractor license number.
Section 746 of Title VII of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2017 (Division A - Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017) and subsequent statutes mandating domestic preference applies an American Iron and Steel requirement to this project. All listed iron and steel products used in this project must be produced in the United States. The term “iron and steel products” means the following products made primarily of iron or steel: lined or unlined pipes and fittings, manhole covers and other municipal castings, hydrants, tanks, flanges, pipe clamps and restraints, valves, structural steel, reinforced precast concrete, and construction materials. The deminimis and minor components waiver apply to this contract.

With the increase in preventative measures being taken to prevent the exposure to COVID-19, the Wythe County General Registrar would like to urge eligible voters in the Town of Rural Retreat and Wytheville Town Council Elections to vote absentee by mail for the upcoming May 5, 2020 Town Council Election.
The Virginia Department of Elections announced that all town voters may cast Absentee Ballots in the May 5th Town Elections. All voters are encouraged to request and vote an absentee ballot by mail. All eligible voters may request a ballot using Reason Code 2A, even if they do not suffer from an illness or disability.
To request an absentee ballot:

Due to the COVID-19 concerns, the public hearing scheduled for March 24, 2020, regarding the proposed Parking Ordinance is cancelled. This hearing will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is seeking proposals for engineering services to update its 1995 comprehensive water and wastewater study in Wythe County, Virginia. The study will address, but not be limited to the following:
The successful offeror will work closely with the Water and Wastewater Director and County Engineer and will be the Engineer-of-Record for the project. A previous study is available to use as a baseline for the project.
Interested offerors are requested to provide five copies of qualifications and references on Standard Form (SF) 330.
Proposals will be received at the office of Stephen D. Bear, Wythe County Administrator, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382 until 2:00 p.m. local prevailing time Friday, March 27, 2020.
All elements of this project will comply with the Virginia Department of Health, Viginia Department of Environmental Quality and US Department of Agriculture - Rural Development guidelines.
