The Board of Supervisors of Wythe County, Virginia will hold a public hearing on the proposed issuance of a bond by Wythe County. The estimated maximum amount of the bond proposed to be issued is $1,352,415. The proposed use of the bond proceeds is to pay costs of capital improvements to the County’s wastewater collection and treatment facilities. The public hearing, which may be continued or adjourned, and at which persons may appear and present their views on the proposed bond issue, will be held at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, on November 13, 2024, before the Board in the Board Room of the County Administration Building, located at 340 South Sixth Street in Wytheville, Virginia.
The Joint Public Service Authority of Wythe County and Bland County is requesting sealed bids for the procurement of a metal shear for a Case CX60C.
Bids shall be accepted at the Transfer Station Scale House located at 169 Kent’s Lane, Wytheville, VA 24382, until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14th, 2024, local prevailing time and should be clearly marked “Metal Shear”. Metal Shear intended purpose is to remove rubber tires from the rims.
Bid Specifications are as follows:
- Provide a rotational shear that will fit on a Case CX60C excavator
- Provide installation to include any hoses with quick disconnects.
- Provide training and familiarization of equipment
- Provide delivery of the shear to 169 Kents Lane, Wytheville, VA 24382
- Shear should have replacement cutting edges, provide one extra set of the cutting edge
- Indicate time line for delivery.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors seeks bids from qualified installers to add climate control systems to two fire departments at Max Meadows and Speedwell.
At a minimum, proposers should include for each department a five-ton split system, Trane or similar, with variable speed air handler, with all duct, grilles, flex, electrical and filters to make a complete system to provide heating, ventilation and air conditioning to office, meeting, kitchen and restroom spaces within the two fire stations. The Max Meadows station has an upstairs bunkroom and storage area to be included; Speedwell’s system will serve a single story.
Work shall include at a minimum: design of system; any required preparation work for installation, including concrete pad, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; installation of complete HVAC system with controls including programmable wi-fi enabled thermostat; necessary weather seals and insulation; repair, patching, painting of any damage.
Preference will be given to firms which can complete installation at both stations by January 17, 2025.

Work requires a building permit from the Wythe County Building Official, but the building permit fee will be waived. Bid bond is required equal to 5 percent of the proposed cost.
Proposals must include system design and equipment specifications; maximum electrical demand; pricing by station; references from three past projects of similar scope; proposed project schedule with starting date assuming Board of Supervisors approval on November 26 with notice to proceed on November 27.

Fort Chiswell South Sewer - Phase I Pump Station Installation
Wythe County, Virginia is requesting Bids for the construction of the following Project: Fort Chiswell South Sewer - Phase I Pump Station Installation 22-25
Bids for the construction of the Project will be received at the Wythe County Board of Supervisors Chambers located at 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA 24382, until 31 October 2024 at 2:00 local time (Reflects bid date revision, Addendum #3). A previously bid project (opened on 5 September 2024) included the pump station and linework in a combined project. At that time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read.
The Project includes the following Work:
Construction of a pump station, gravel access and related appurtenances just south of Fort Chiswell, Virginia. Owner will provide pumps and generator for the work.
The Project has an expected duration of 210 days.

Bidding Documents may be downloaded from the designated website. Prospective Bidders are urged to register with the designated website as a plan holder, even if Bidding Documents are obtained from a plan room or source other than the designated website in either electronic or paper format. The designated website will be updated periodically with addenda, lists of registered plan holders, reports, and other information relevant to submitting a Bid for the Project. All official notifications, addenda, and other Bidding Documents will be offered only through the designated website. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for Bidding Documents, including addenda, if any, obtained from sources other than the designated website.

Prospective Bidders may obtain or examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Monday through Friday between the hours of 9-5, and may obtain copies of the Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office as described below. Printed copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office by paying a deposit of $200 for each set. SECTION 13 of PL 92-500; UNDER THE FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT; REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973; PL 93-112, AND AGE DISCRIMINATION ACT OF 1975: The Contractor and any subcontractors shall not on the grounds of race, color, national origin, or sex, exclude from participation in, deny the benefits of, or subject to discrimination any person under any program or activity funded in whole or in part with Federal funds. Any prohibition against discrimination on the basis of age under the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, or with respect to an otherwise qualified handicapped individual as provided in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 shall also apply to any such program or activity.
Pre-bid Conference
A pre-bid conference for the Project will not be held for this project. Bidders are encouraged to contact the engineer prior to October 17, 2024 to arrange a site visit if so desired.

Should the apparent low bid exceed available funds, the Owner reserves the right to negotiate with the apparent low bidder to obtain a contract price within available funds.
Wythe County, Virginia is requesting bids from equipment suppliers to provide submersible wastewater pumps and controls for the County’s new Fort Chiswell Wastewater Pump Station. Equipment shall be in accordance with requirements identified in the attached Section 11310 – “Wastewater Pumps” and Section 16900 – “Controls & Instrumentation”.

Bids may be submitted digitally or in printed format.
Bids shall be provided on the attached Bid Form and shall include lump sum price for all materials and services (including freight and equipment startup). Bid shall include separate standalone prices for both pumps and controls. Bidders may also provide a packaged price (if lower than the sum of the separate pump and control prices) which would only be valid for consideration if the pump and controls are awarded together.
The County’s intent is to award pump and control order to a single supplier; however, the County reserves the right to award these items separately. In addition to the Bid Form, Bidders shall also submit supporting documentation including pump model and description, performance curves, and dimensional data.
Please note that bids may be awarded and/or rejected on evaluation other than price alone.
The County of Wythe reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
Bids shall be valid for a minimum 60 days from date of submission.
