The Wythe County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing in the Board Room of the County Administration Offices located at 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia, at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. 

The purpose of this meeting is to give notice of Wythe County’s intent to apply for USDA, Rural Development funds to replace problem waterlines and install new water lines in the Dunford Road community. Comments regarding economic and environmental impacts, service area, alternatives to the project, and other related project issues are encouraged.

Wythe County’s Board of Supervisors is considering adopting an ordinance establishing a coordinated fire and rescue system. Public notice is hereby given that the Board will receive public input at 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2023, or as soon thereafter as practical, in the Board Room of the County Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA  24382. All interested parties are invited to attend the meeting to express their views concerning the ordinance.

In summary, the ordinance would create a unified response system for emergencies and enhance the structure of emergency medical services, and enable faster emergency response and coordination of county resources.

The Board may choose to amend and enact the ordinance after the public hearing.

The Wythe County Board of Supervisors is currently in the process of reviewing the proposed Comprehensive Plan as recommended by the Wythe County Planning Commission. The plan is designed to be a decision-making tool to help guide the growth and development of the county.  The plan is general, long range and comprehensive. The plan is based upon the data gathered about land use, population, housing, community services, transportation and the economy. The plan takes into consideration present and probable future needs and seeks to promote the health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity and general welfare of the people in Wythe County. 

In an effort to determine the views of local citizens and gain valuable information prior to adopting the Wythe County Planning Commission’s recommended plan, the Board of Supervisors will be conducting a public hearing, in compliance with Section 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wythe County Administration Building, 340 South 6th Street, Wytheville, VA.

Separate sealed Bids for the APEX Center Parking Lot Improvements Phase 1 for the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, which consists of the construction of approximately 1,200 linear feet of paved roadway and parking area, concrete pads, parking lot lighting, earthwork, storm drain pipe, storm structures, erosion and sediment control, and associated items, will be received by Mr. Stephen Bear, County Administrator, at 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA, until 2:00 P.M., local prevailing time, on September 19, 2023, and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud. 

The Contract Documents may be examined at the Wythe County Board of Supervisors, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA; and online at TRASCO (http://www.trascoplanroom.com).

Withdrawal of bids shall be according to procedure (i) of the Virginia Public Procurement Act and to the Code of Virginia (§ 2.2-4330). 

Bids must be accompanied by Bid security as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. 

Each Bidder must be licensed as a Class A contractor in the State of Virginia; Bidders are instructed to review the Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 11, prior to bidding. 

The Owner does not discriminate against faith-based organizations in accordance with the Code of Virginia, § 2.2-4343.1. 

MBE/WBE firms are encouraged to submit Bids.  

The Contract(s) shall be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder(s).  

The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all Bids if it appears in its best interest to do so.
