The Wythe County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. to hear public comment on the the proposed County Budget (which includes the School Board Budget) for Fiscal Year 2023-24 and on the proposed Tax Levy for Calendar Year 2023. The public hearing will be held in the Board Room of the Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia. The Virginia Department of Transportation and the Board of Supervisors of Wythe County, in accordance with Section 33.2-331 of the Code of Virginia, will conduct a joint public hearing in the Board Room of the Wythe County Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia 24382 at 6:05 p.m. on May 9, 2023. The purpose of this public hearing is to receive public comment on the proposed Secondary Six-Year Plan for Fiscal Years 2023/24 through 2028/29 in Wythe County and on the Secondary System Construction Budget for Fiscal Year 2023/24. Copies of the proposed Plan and Budget may be reviewed at the Wytheville Residency Office of the Virginia Department of Transportation, located at 2843 Chapman Road, Wytheville, Virginia 24382 or at the Wythe County offices located at 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia 24382.
All projects in the Secondary Six-Year Plan that are eligible for federal funds will be included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), which documents how Virginia will obligate federal transportation funds.

Wythe County, Virginia is accepting sealed PROPOSALS from qualified law firms for Bond Counsel Services.

Sealed PROPOSALS must be received no later than: 3:00 pm on May 17, 2023
Proposals should be directed to Wythe County Administration Offices; Attn: Stephen Bear; 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382. Three (3) copies of the proposal must be submitted in a sealed package marked on the outside with the provider’s name and address, and clearly marked: “Bond Counsel Services”. Proposals must be signed by an official authorized to bind the provider. Proposals received after the deadline, postmarks notwithstanding, shall be rejected. The County of Wythe reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.

Sealed bids will be received for the Appalachian Expo (Apex) Center in the County Administrator’s Office at the Wythe County Administration Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, VA 24382 on or before Monday, May 15, 2023, at 3:00 PM.
The work generally consists of locker rooms, concession upgrades, play surfaces for hockey and soccer, refrigeration, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and electrical work. It is the intent of the Wythe County Board of Supervisors that the work will be awarded under a single prime General Construction Contract. The county has already ordered the necessary refrigeration, cooling, dehumidification and air components specified by the consulting engineers. This locally-funded project has no Davis-Bacon requirements.
Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 3:30 PM in the Wythe County Board of Supervisor’s Conference Room.

Bids must be received by the time and date above with an electronic copy of contractor’s bid emailed to CJL Engineering’s Mr. James M. Vizzini PE (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Emailed bids will not be accepted. All Bids must be plainly marked “Additions and Alterations to the Appalachian Expo (Apex) Center”. (Note: “Additions and Alterations to the Appalachian Expo (Apex) Center” indicated on the subject line for bids emailed to CJL Engineering.)
Bidding Contractors must fill out the Acknowledgement of Receipt form and email it to Matthew C. Hankins (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) no later than Monday, May 8, 2023 at 4:00 PM.
A Pre-bid Conference will not be held for the project. Interested bidding contractors are encouraged to visit the site located at 200 Apex Drive, Wytheville, VA 24382 to familiarize themselves with existing site and building conditions. Contact the office of Mr. Matthew Hankins (276-223-4500) to schedule a site visit. Note that the tenants of the property are not authorized to answer questions from bidders.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with “Appalachian Expo (Apex) Center” clearly indicated in subject. No questions will be received or responded by phone. All questions must be submitted on or before Monday, May 9, 2023 4:00 PM. No questions will be addressed after that date and time.
