The Appalachian Regional Exposition Center Authority will convene in regular session on Friday, February 8, at 12:00 Noon to discuss SMG Management. 

The meeting will take place at the Appalachian Regional Exposition Center, 290 Ready Mix Road, Wytheville, Virginia.

In compliance with the Code of Virginia and amendments thereto, the Wythe County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing to consider adopting an ordinance entitled, “Wythe County Noise Ordinance.”  The proposed ordinance will replace Ordinance 2017-2. 

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 7:05 p.m. in the Board Room of the Wythe County Office Building, 340 South Sixth Street, Wytheville, Virginia, at which time the Board will hear comments from citizens concerning the proposed Ordinance.

Wythe County, Virginia, is seeking sealed bids for the supply of all materials and the labor to install a 4-yard trash compactor box at the Rural Retreat, VA trash collection and recycling center, located at 330 Gienow Rd, Rural Retreat, VA 24368. Bids should be labeled “Compactor Bid” and addressed to the attention of Martha Collins, 340 South 6th St, Wytheville, VA 24382. Bids should be received no later than 2 p.m. on January 25th, 2019. 

The following minimum specifications should be adhered to: 

  • Compactor box size should be 4 yard, and green in color
  • Electrical breaker, conduit, and wiring for the motor not to exceed 50’
  • Motor size to be 208/230-volt 3PH 20HP
  • Phase converter
  • Reservoir Tank size of at least 70 gallons
  • Maximum Force rating of 77,000 Lbs.
  • Min 2 horizontal ram supports
  • Heavy Duty capacity ratchet binder/hooks
  • UL listed electrical components
  • Keyed lock on/Off switch to ensure that only authorized personnel can us the compactor.
  • A quantity of (2) 40 yard octagon receiver boxes, green in color

Wythe County, Virginia, is seeking proposals for the construction of roads and parking areas at the Appalachian Regional Exposition Center (APEX) near Fort Chiswell, Virginia.  The work to be performed includes all labor, material, and equipment. 

Item A.  Access road to east parking area: fine grade and compact 560 ft of roadway and 30 foot radius cul-de-sac; deliver, grade, and compact 5,800 ft3 of unspecified stone material (4-in depth); deliver, grade, and compact 5,800 ft3 of 21-A aggregate (4-in depth).  Additive bid item A1: place 13,000 ft2 of VDOT Type D blot seal or 2-in bituminous plant mix (18 ft road width). 

Item B. East parking area: fine grade and compact parking area; deliver, grade, and compact 32,000 ft3 of unspecified material (4-in depth). 

Item C.  Road to north soccer field: fine grade and compact 1,200 feet of road; deliver, grade, and compact 21,000 ft3 of unspecified material (4-in depth). 

Note:  the term “unspecified material” refers to a product equal to a Salem Stone (Wytheville, VA) classification.

Pursuant to §33.2-909 of the Code of Virginia, the Wythe County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to hear public comments regarding the abandonment of a section of Route 737, Buckley Drive, from Route 11 to the end of state maintenance, a distance of .13 miles.
